    The snowline is the line on mountain or hill slope which is the lowest limit of perpetual snow. The Imaginary line on a mountain or a hill which forms the lower limit of perpetual snow is called snow line. Below this line the snow melts away and above this line snow never melts. The snow line does not exist at the same level everywhere on earth. The average altitude of snow line is 5500m in the equatorial region, 4000-5000m in the Himalayan region, 2700m in the Alps and 0m in the polar regions.
