Given $$[\frac { a } { b } ]^X-1$$= $$[\frac {b} {a}]^X-3$$

$$[\frac { a } { b } ]^X-1$$=$$[\frac { a } { b }]^(X-3)$$=$$[\frac {a } { b } ]^(3-X)$$

x - 1 = 3 - x

2x = 4

x = 2.
